Cantonal vote BE Clear Yes to the concordat in Moutier

The voters of Moutier have approved the concordat on the transfer of their town to the canton of Jura with 1567 votes in favor and 1221 against (56.2 percent of votes in favor). This is according to official figures provided by the authorities to the Keystone-SDA news agency.

The result was eagerly awaited, as the Yes vote confirms the city's decision to switch from the canton of Bern to the canton of Jura.

This change of canton was always highly controversial in Moutier. Opponents and supporters were roughly evenly balanced. In 2021, however, the voters came out reasonably clearly in favor of a change of canton.
