Less rigid regulations are to apply to working from home in future. The responsible Committee for Economic Affairs and Taxation of the National Council has approved a corresponding draft for consultation by 18 votes to 7.

This was done as part of the parliamentary initiative "More freedom to organize working from home" submitted by Councillor of States Thierry Burkart (FDP/AG) in 2016.

The majority of the Committee for Economic Affairs and Taxation (WAK-N) considered a more flexible form of employment law to be necessary in view of today's working world. However, a minority of the committee warned against a deterioration in working conditions and health protection, which could also result in high costs for the economy.
