Grand Council BS 3.1 million francs for photovoltaic expansion in Basel-Stadt

On Wednesday, the Grand Council approved around 3.1 million Swiss francs for 48 photovoltaic systems on cantonal properties by 95 votes to 1. The government expects the greatest yields at the St. Jakobshalle, St. Jakob-Parkhaus and Kaserne sites

It is also expecting good results from the generation of solar energy at the St. Jakob ice rink, the FHNW Dreispitz, the Zeughaus and the Schützenmatte and Rankhof sports facilities.

According to the government, the solar potential in the administrative assets should be developed by 2030 and enable the production of at least eleven gigawatt hours of electricity per year, as stated in the government's proposal. All parliamentary groups support this investment.
