Helpers are working to rescue the young people, a spokesperson for the Israeli Foreign Ministry told the German Press Agency on request.

Israeli media had previously reported that three Israeli snowboarders had been stuck for hours in freezing temperatures on a snow-covered mountain peak near the village of Hakuba in central Japan.

Several Israeli media reported that helpers were preparing to begin rescuing the Israelis at dawn.

According to the "Jerusalem Post", the men are said to be 27 and 28 years old. They had strayed from a marked snowboard route, the newspaper continued.

They are currently receiving instructions from the rescue teams on how to keep warm and survive the night. Several media outlets reported that the men's cell phone batteries had hardly any charge left.
