Avalanche/landslide Ski tourer dies in avalanche accident in Giswil OW

An avalanche claimed the life of a 49-year-old ski tourer in Giswil OW on Saturday. The accident victim died despite resuscitation attempts on site, as reported by the Lucerne public prosecutor's office on Monday.

The accident occurred in the "Obrist Arni" area near Giswil OW, when the ski tourer was caught by a snow slab and swept away. Rescue workers from the canton of Lucerne were able to locate the man in the avalanche cone, but were unable to save his life, according to a press release.
