The mechanical engineering company Schlatter has fallen victim to a cyber attack. The company immediately initiated security measures and involved the relevant authorities.

The exact extent of the damage to the IT network is not yet known, Schlatter announced on Monday. A detailed investigation into the matter is still ongoing. As part of the process, it is also being investigated whether data was siphoned off.

However, it can be assumed that this was a professional attack, the statement continued. The unknown perpetrators attempted to blackmail the company. The experts are working intensively to make all systems available and functional again as quickly as possible.

The Schlatter Group, based in Schlieren near Zurich, is a global plant manufacturer for welding systems and weaving machines.
