Rail accident Rail traffic at Lugano station restricted due to defective points

Due to a defective switch, rail traffic was restricted at Lugano station on Saturday morning. The disruption will last at least until Sunday morning, as an SBB spokesperson told the Keystone-SDA news agency.

A switch had to be repaired, the spokesperson added. The work could only be carried out during the night from Saturday to Sunday. Rail traffic at the station will remain restricted throughout Saturday.

The IC2, IC21 and S90 lines are affected, as the SBB information service announced on the X short message service. Delays and train cancellations are to be expected. Travelers between Lugano and Lamone-Cadempino were asked to use buses on line 5.
