A man has been stabbed on Westminster Bridge in London. He was taken to hospital in a critical condition, according to Scotland Yard. Three men were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Another was arrested for assault. The bridge near the landmark Big Ben was temporarily cordoned off.

A police spokeswoman emphasized that it was an isolated incident. A terrorist background could be ruled out. The men had come into conflict with each other.

However, the case is likely to bring back bad memories: On Westminster Bridge in 2017, an Islamist terrorist first deliberately drove a car into pedestrians and then attacked a police officer with a knife. Four people on the bridge and the police officer died. Dozens more were injured. The attacker was also killed in the incident.
