According to the aid organization World Central Kitchen (WCK), a vehicle belonging to employees was hit in an Israeli air strike in the Gaza Strip. The organization said in a statement that it was "heartbroken".

There is currently only "incomplete information" about the incident and they are urgently trying to find out more details. There was no knowledge that anyone in the vehicle had any connection to the Hamas massacre in Israel on October 7, 2023. The organization is currently pausing its activities in the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli army had previously announced that it had deliberately killed an employee of the organization in the Gaza Strip. Although he worked for WCK, he is said to have been involved in the massacre on October 7.

The employee was attacked on the basis of "credible information about his real-time location" while he was traveling in a car, the army said. Israel has repeatedly called on aid organizations to provide the names of local employees so that terrorists cannot find shelter in the humanitarian sector.

The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that a total of five people were killed in the attack on the car near the town of Chan Junis, including three local WCK employees. The organization did not specify the number of victims.

Seven WCK aid workers killed in April

Since the beginning of the Gaza war more than a year ago, aid workers have repeatedly lost their lives. At the beginning of April, seven WCK aid workers were killed in an Israeli air strike. The Israeli army later described the attack as a "serious mistake".

World Central Kitchen is an aid organization founded by Spanish celebrity chef José Andrés in 2010 in the wake of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Based in Washington, WCK has been providing meals to people in disaster areas around the world ever since.
