The spokesperson for the Jura government, Julien Hostettler, and the family of the deceased confirmed the information published by various media outlets to the Keystone-SDA news agency on Thursday.

After leaving the Jura government in 2007, where the lawyer was Minister of Finance and Justice, Schaller failed to retain the seat of the then CVP (now Die Mitte) in the National Council; it went to the SVP.
