Ukraine is to receive a further 4.8 billion US dollars from the World Bank, according to its Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. The government had made the necessary decisions to receive the money, he wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to him, the money will be used for social and humanitarian purposes. This is aid financed by the USA and its partners, he wrote.

In total, Ukraine has already received more than 100 billion US dollars or the equivalent of 95 billion euros in funding from abroad since the start of the large-scale Russian invasion in February 2022.

The aid is primarily used to finance Ukraine's budget, including the payment of civil servants and teachers. A large part are loans.
