Cantonal Criminal Court TI Ticino judicial council removes two judges from office

The Ticino Judicial Council has dismissed two judges from the cantonal criminal court in Lugano with immediate effect. They had reported the president of the court for the criminal offense of pornography.

According to a press release from the Judicial Council sent out on Thursday, the charges amounted to a "serious breach of their duties as magistrates".

The two judges had reported the president of the court even though they had known that this accusation was unfounded.

The president of the cantonal criminal court in Lugano was exonerated of the accusation of pornography at the beginning of September. An extraordinary public prosecutor from the canton of Graubünden was appointed to investigate the criminal complaint.
