Politics Russia's military declares further locations conquered

According to the Russian military, it has captured four more towns in the eastern Ukrainian region of Donetsk. Army Group South has taken Krasnohorivka and Hryhorivka, Army Group East has taken Vodyane and Army Group Center has taken Halyzynivka.

This was announced by the Russian Ministry of Defense. The information cannot be verified independently. However, Ukrainian military observers have marked three of the towns in question - all except Hryhorivka - as occupied.

Ukraine is under heavy pressure on the front in the east of the country. The situation is most complicated in the area between the towns of Pokrovsk and Kurakhove. Russian troops have made significant territorial gains there following the fall of the Ukrainian fortress of Avdiivka at the beginning of the year.

In an arc between Krasnohorivka and the town of Ukrajinsk, west of the now captured town of Halyzynivka, Ukrainian troops are currently threatened with encirclement or the loss of further territory following their retreat. Russian troops have already advanced towards the mining town of Hyrnik in this frontal arc.
