Dozens of people have been killed in an Israeli attack in the northern Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian reports. The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported 36 dead in the refugee district of Jabaliya, including 15 minors. Fighter jets had fired on a residential building there.

The Israeli army said on request that "a site with terrorist infrastructure" had been attacked in Jabaliya, from which terrorists had been operating. They had threatened troops in the area. The details of the incident are being investigated. Before the attack, steps had been taken to reduce the risk to civilians.

The Hamas-controlled health authority said that more than 43,600 people had been killed and almost 103,000 others injured in the Gaza Strip since the war began more than 13 months ago. The figures do not distinguish between civilians and combatants.
