Germany Report: Selenskyj comes to Ramstein for Ukraine meeting

According to information from "Der Spiegel", Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi is also traveling to Ramstein on Friday for talks on further support for Ukraine in the war against Russia. During his visit to the US airbase in Rhineland-Palatinate, he wants to impress upon Western defense ministers and senior military officials the seriousness of the situation and ask for fresh arms supplies, especially long-range missiles and air defense systems, the portal reported. The German government did not comment on the report when asked by the German Press Agency.

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has invited the members of the so-called Ukraine Contact Group to the conference at the largest US airbase outside the United States. The Contact Group comprises around 50 states, including Germany. As in previous meetings at the base near Kaiserslautern, non-NATO states were also invited.

This is the 24th meeting of the Ukraine Contact Group, although most of the talks were held as video conferences. Russia has been waging a war of aggression against neighboring Ukraine since 24 February 2022. The West is supporting Kiev in its defense with extensive arms deliveries, among other things.
