Occupational pension assets will continue to earn interest of at least 1.25 percent in 2025. This minimum interest rate remains unchanged. It specifies the minimum interest rate that must be paid on the pension assets of insured persons in the mandatory scheme.

At its meeting on Wednesday, the Federal Council was informed that a review of the rate was not necessary this year, as stated in its communication on the decision.

At the beginning of September, the Federal Commission for Occupational Retirement, Survivors' and Disability Pension Plans had spoken out in favor of maintaining the rate at 1.25 percent. The trade unions, who had called for an increase to 1.5 per cent, criticized the commission's recommendation.
