Unknown persons have attacked a team of Italian journalists in southern Lebanon. The incident took place near the city of Sidon, as reported by Italian media.

An angry crowd had approached the vehicle of the public broadcaster Rai 3 and threatened the team. The Lebanese driver then suffered a heart attack and could not be rescued despite resuscitation measures. The area is under the control of the Shiite Hezbollah militia.

The Rai 3 channel reported on the incident in the midday edition of its "tg3" program, citing the accounts of correspondent Lucia Goracci. According to the report, the team initially filmed on location and interviewed people. Later, however, an armed man approached the team of journalists and tried to snatch the camera from the team. A group of men then approached the team and threatened them. The driver suffered a heart attack while trying to calm the gunmen down.

The conflict between Hezbollah and Israel continues to escalate following the killing of key leaders. Reporting from the conflict zones is also becoming increasingly dangerous for journalists.
