The military wing of the Islamist Palestinian organization Hamas has published a propaganda video of the release of the Israeli hostages.

The video was posted on the Telegram channel of the Qassam Brigades, but also spread quickly on social media. The video was considered very cynical by the Israeli side.

The three civilians Romi Gonen (24), Emily Damari (28) and Doron Steinbrecher (31) can be seen before they are handed over to Red Cross representatives. They had been forcibly detained since their abduction during the Hamas massacre in the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023.

In the vehicle, the three women are sitting together and smiling. Around their necks they wear ribbons with the word "Palestine" in the colors of the Palestinian flag. They are then given bags with "souvenirs" of their stay in the Gaza Strip. In addition, each of the women receives an official-looking folder with the Hebrew inscription "Release decision".

At the handover to the Red Cross, the vehicles are surrounded by a crowd of people and heavily armed Hamas fighters. The densely packed crowd chants "Allahu Akbar" (God is great). Representatives of Hamas and the Red Cross can then be seen signing documents. Then the three women run from a Hamas vehicle into a Red Cross car.

Hostages released during an earlier ceasefire had reported that they found the moment of the handover, while surrounded by a huge crowd, extremely frightening.
