EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that the ceasefire and the agreement to release hostages gave much-needed hope. "But the humanitarian situation in Gaza remains catastrophic."

According to the Commission, the new aid package includes food aid, medical support and assistance with water supplies. The EU is working with UN agencies and other partners to ensure that the aid reaches the people on the ground as quickly as possible.
