US President Joe Biden assumes that he would have won the US presidential election against Republican Donald Trump. "It's presumptuous to say that, but I think so," said Biden in response to the corresponding question in an interview with "USA Today".

He based this view on polls that he had checked. However, the majority of public opinion polls at the time saw Biden behind Trump.

However, when asked whether he would have had the strength to stay in office for another four years, Biden was not so confident. "I don't know," he replied. "Who the hell knows?"

After a disastrous televised debate with Trump during the election campaign, Biden withdrew from the presidential race under pressure from his party and then supported his vice president Kamala Harris as the candidate. However, many experts doubt that Biden could have won the election.

"I've known every major world leader for a long time"

Biden continued: "I think the one advantage of being an old man is that I've known every major world leader for a long time. So I've had perspective on each of them and their interests."

He said he hopes history will say he stepped up and had a plan to restore the economy and America's leadership in the world. "And I hope it documents that I did it with honesty and integrity, that I said what was on my mind." Biden said his biggest disappointment was his failure to take effective action against misinformation, including Trump's.
