The Israeli military has once again attacked the southern suburbs of the capital Beirut. The Lebanese news agency NNA reported that the suburb of Haret Hreik had been hit by a series of air strikes. Pictures showed large clouds of smoke rising from the densely populated area.

Israel last attacked Haret Hreik three days ago. Many of the residents of the densely populated residential area have already fled.

Haret Hreik is part of Beirut's southern suburbs, known as Dahija. The neighboring neighborhood of Burj al-Barajinah and the city of Shujefat were also reportedly shaken by explosions. An Israeli army spokesperson had previously called on residents in the affected areas to flee.

Israel's military announced in the evening that the attacks had targeted weapons depots and an intelligence headquarters of the Shia militia Hezbollah. The military always emphasizes that it takes measures to protect civilians. However, civilians are repeatedly killed or injured.

As its most important ally, the US government recently criticized Israel unusually clearly for the attacks in the area of the capital Beirut and called for consideration. The Israeli military, for its part, accuses Hezbollah of having set up weapons depots and production facilities under residential buildings in the heart of Beirut.
