If Switzerland wins its quarter-final match at the European Football Championship on Saturday evening (tonight), Zurich, Basel and other cities will grant a free night. In Bern, on the other hand, this is only possible if the Swiss win the semi-final.

In Zurich and Winterthur, a free night applies on Sunday night for indoor areas of restaurants, not for outdoor areas. In the event of a Swiss victory, pub owners can keep their indoor areas open for as long as they wish. The normal opening hours apply to outdoor areas.

The city of Schlieren ZH is also granting a free night in the "Pischte 52" public viewing zone.

The city of Basel announced that the Swiss national team's first appearance in the semi-finals of a major football tournament should be celebrated in style. For this reason, the usual curfew will no longer apply if Switzerland wins in the quarter-finals. In Basel, too, the relaxation only applies to indoor areas.

However, the city of Bern's security department announced that the normal rules would apply in the federal city on Sunday night, even if Switzerland wins. This means that catering establishments must close at midnight. The night's rest in outdoor areas must be observed from 11 pm.

Should the "Nati" actually reach the semi-final, the pubs in the city of Berne can remain open without restriction next Wednesday. The same applies on Sunday, July 14, if Switzerland reaches the final, according to the Bernese Security Directorate.
