Platform X, which was blocked in Brazil, has reportedly paid a fine in the millions to have the blockade of billionaire Elon Musk's network lifted.

Judge Alexandre de Moraes from the country's Supreme Court declared on Friday that X had informed the court that the penalties imposed on the company had been "paid in full". He had instructed the judicial authorities to verify this, de Moraes explained.

A source familiar with the matter confirmed to the AFP news agency that the fine of around 4.42 million Swiss francs had been paid in full.

Moraes had the online service blocked following a dispute with Musk, and X has been unavailable with a brief interruption since the end of August.

The judge justified the order by stating that the dissemination of false information via the platform should be prevented. Musk, on the other hand, repeatedly insisted on freedom of expression and sharply criticized the judge.

Before the ban, around 22 million people regularly used the platform in Brazil. Recently, X had made increasing efforts to have the platform unblocked and submitted the necessary documents to the judiciary.
