Fatality Construction worker dies in accident in Rüschlikon ZH

A construction worker was buried by a wall of earth in an excavation pit in Rüschlikon ZH on Tuesday morning. The 53-year-old succumbed to his serious injuries shortly afterwards in hospital

At around 9.30 a.m., two construction workers were working on a wall in an approximately three-meter-deep excavation pit, according to the Zurich cantonal police on Tuesday. Suddenly, a side wall of earth slipped and partially buried one of the two men underneath it.

The accident victim was rescued by colleagues and the rescue services. After receiving initial medical treatment at the scene of the accident, the 53-year-old was taken by ambulance to hospital, where he succumbed to his serious injuries.

The exact circumstances of the accident are being investigated by the Zurich cantonal police and the public prosecutor's office.
