A group of climate activists blocked the road to Zurich Airport on Wednesday morning. The police quickly broke up the protest.

Three activists sat down on the airport road with banners and briefly held up traffic. After ten minutes, however, the action was already over because the cantonal police broke up the blockade.

The activists were part of the "Act Now!" group, which belongs to "Extinction Rebellion". Their aim was to "protest against a government that continues to fail to act in the face of the worsening climate crisis". They were reported by the police and turned away.

There were also climate protests at other airports: in Germany, five climate activists from the "Last Generation" stuck to a runway at Cologne/Bonn Airport. Flight operations had to be suspended for the duration of the removal action. The "Last Generation" announced that protests are to take place at several airports around the world.
