One month after the storm in Brienz BE, the clean-up work is still in full swing. The channel of the Mühelbach stream is clear again and the debris collector has been emptied. Around half of the 70 people evacuated during the storm are back in their homes.

Nevertheless, there is still a lot to do. The trail of devastation left by the Mühlebach through the Aenderdort district is still unmistakable. Suction excavators are being used at various houses to remove the fine mud from the ground floors and basements.

Around a dozen houses are not yet inhabited again, as municipal council president Peter Zumbrunn said at a media event in the damaged area on Tuesday.

After the rough evacuation and initial provisional protective measures, it is now a matter of clarifying which protective measures will be necessary along the Mühlebach in future and which houses may have to make way. An advisory group has been formed in which those directly affected are also represented.
