Banks are currently looking for significantly fewer staff than a year ago. The number of jobs advertised by the ten largest Swiss banks in December was less than two-thirds of what it was at the end of 2023.

In total, around 570 jobs were advertised on the banks' websites at the end of last year, compared to over 900 in December 2023. This is according to an analysis by the job portal Indeed, which regularly counts and analyzes the job advertisements of the ten largest banks for the news agency AWP.

The number of vacancies at UBS is currently only half as large if you compare the job advertisements that Credit Suisse and UBS had together at the end of 2023. However, the number of job advertisements at Zürcher Kantonalbank, Julius Bär and Postfinance has also more than halved in the space of a year.

At UBS, however, the recruitment of employees apparently picked up again somewhat towards the end of last year: With 160 job advertisements, the number of vacancies at the big bank in December was 15 percent higher than in the previous month and higher than at any time since the summer. Overall, however, job vacancies at the ten largest Swiss banks fell by a further 3 percent between November and December.

The job portal Indeed only included job vacancies relating to positions in Switzerland in its analysis. Apprenticeships and internships are also excluded.
