  • A survey shows that 49% of the Swiss population are skeptical about the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.
  • Approval is higher among people with a higher level of education and left-wing political views, while 74 percent of SVP supporters are against it.
  • Several Swiss cities have applied to host the ESC.

This was revealed by a Sotomo survey published in the "Blick " newspaper on Saturday.

A total of 24,720 people were surveyed. They answered the question of whether they would welcome Switzerland, and therefore SRG, hosting the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) in 2025.

49% of them answered "no" or "rather no", and 46% "yes" or "rather yes". Five percent gave no answer. Support for the ESC is highest among Green Party supporters, with 72% in favor.

The SP, GLP and the Center Party also have a majority with anticipation.

The situation is different for those who prefer the SVP and FDP: skeptics clearly outnumber supporters of these two parties, with 74% of SVP supporters in favor. The majority of those who did not state a party preference in the survey are also not looking forward to the ESC in Switzerland.

Decision in August on which location will host ESC 2025

The decision on the venue for the ESC 2025 will be announced at the end of August.
