Following Nemo's victory last month, Geneva has "prepared a solid, ambitious and original bid dossier based on strong political support from the executive, the cantonal legislature and the municipal legislature", the authorities announced.

Geneva has all the cards in its hand to make the 2025 bid a success". They point to its infrastructure at Palexpo, its rail network, its airport and its hotel offer.

"Hosting the Eurovision Song Contest in Geneva means offering this event a jewel box in the heart of Switzerland's most international city, known for its tolerance and openness to the world," the Vice President of the cantonal government, Thierry Apothéloz, is quoted as saying in the press release.

Millions pledged

The Geneva executive has pledged to contribute CHF 30 million to the organization of the event, which is expected to have a "significant economic impact". The authorities also emphasized that Geneva is the headquarters of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which will celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2025.

According to the schedule, the EBU and SRG will examine the submitted dossiers in July and August and announce the decision on the venue for the ESC 2025 by the end of August.
