The 73-metre-long oil and chemical tanker "Annika" has caught fire off the German Baltic coast northeast of Kühlungsborn. According to the German Maritime Search and Rescue Association, all seven crew members were rescued from the ship.

The radio station Ostseewelle had initially reported that there were several casualties.

According to the sea rescue service, an ocean-going salvage tug as well as other vehicles and helicopters are on their way to the tanker. The black smoke from the burning ship was visible as far as the coast. Further details and the cause of the fire are not yet known.
