Number of the week 4205 companies with validated CO2 reduction targets

Worldwide, 4205 companies have had their CO2 reduction targets validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). 53 percent of them are headquartered in Europe, according to a new report by the initiative.

Asia is in second place with 27 percent, followed by North America with 14 percent. A total of 133 Swiss companies currently have CO2 reduction targets validated by the initiative.

The SBTi is a global organization supported by business associations, environmental organizations and countries. It draws up standards for companies' CO2 reduction and verifies them for a fee. According to the initiative, validated targets are in line with the Paris Climate Agreement.
