FC Luzern secure their second win in the last two months in Yverdon. Donat Rrudhani converted a penalty in the second half to win 1-0.
It took almost an hour for the first goal to be scored at the Stade Municipal. However, Rrudhani's confident penalty after Christian Marques had fouled Pius Dorn was the logical consequence of Lucerne's continued superiority.
Yverdon, who have picked up just one point in their last four games and were without key defender Anthony Sauthier for the second time due to suspension, failed to create any dangerous goalscoring opportunities throughout the game. The first goal that found its way into the statistics was a header next to the goal from Yverdon goalkeeper Paul Bernardoni in stoppage time following a corner.
Lucerne, who had only won against Grasshoppers since the end of September, but showed signs of improvement last weekend in a 1-1 draw against Young Boys, would have been ahead after half an hour had Bernardoni not thwarted a double chance from Thibault Klidjé and Pius Dorn with two strong reflexes.
