Olympic bronze medal winner Jan Scherrer will miss the start of the snowboarding season.

The 30-year-old halfpipe specialist suffered a complicated fracture of the rib cartilage in a fall during training, as reported by Swiss-Ski. The Toggenburg native hopes to be able to train fully again by the end of January and thus be ready for the home World Championships in the Engadin in March.
