Swiss goalkeeper Jonas Omlin will have to settle for the role of substitute at Borussia Mönchengladbach for the time being as he struggles to regain his full strength after injuries.
Jonas Omlin, the Swiss international goalkeeper, sees himself in the role of stand-in keeper at Borussia Mönchengladbach for the time being. After several injuries last year, which kept him out of action frequently, he must first fully recover in order to regain his old form. Coach Gerardo Seoane explained this after training on Wednesday.
"Jonas first has to get back to 100 per cent," Seoane emphasized. In the meantime, Moritz Nicolas, who deputized for Omlin, has earned further appearances thanks to his convincing performances. Nicolas' performance has secured him the confidence of the coach, which is delaying Omlin's return to the starting eleven.
Omlin returned to team training last week following a tendon injury in his lower leg. Since joining Mönchengladbach in January 2023, he has missed 41 of a possible 69 games due to injury. This downtime has affected his position in the team and he must now work hard to re-establish himself as first choice.
