FC Sion's current lack of goals is hard to beat. The 0:2 against the new leaders FC Zurich is the eighth game without a win.
It was the 52nd minute when things came to a head for FC Sion. Théo Bouchlarhem stopped the FCZ Irishman Armstrong Oko-Flex in violation of the rules. After the VAR intervened, the Zurich side were awarded a penalty and the Frenchman was shown a yellow card. Mirlind Kryeziu did not need to be asked twice, and with the score at 0:1, a preliminary decision was made.
After an impressive start to the season, the newly promoted team has been struggling to score goals for weeks now. They have failed to score three times in their last five games - and have been unable to turn things around when short-handed. Jonathan Okita made the difference with just under a quarter of an hour to go.
The Zurich side were thus able to easily cope with the absence of their top scorer Juan José Perea and two other regular players due to suspension. The reaction to the 3-1 defeat in the top-of-the-table clash at Servette was successful, and Geneva have the chance to overtake Zurich again on Thursday.
