Geneva-Servette, the 2023 Swiss champions, are still struggling at home. The Geneva team suffered its sixth home defeat in a row against Bern. These are the facts from Saturday's 5 games.

Servette won their first home game in the renovated Les Vernets ice rink more than a month ago thanks to four goals in the final period against the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers with a score of 5:3. Since then, they have only lost against Lausanne (2:3), Davos (1:3), the ZSC Lions (1:3), Biel (0:1), Kloten (4:5 n.V.) and now against SC Bern. Last season, in which the playoffs took place without Servette, Servette already lost six home games in a row. In the 2:3 draw against Bern, Servette equalized again through Finn Sakkari Manninen in the 52nd minute. However, Ramon Untersander scored in the 58th minute to give the visitors a deserved away win. Also noteworthy: Only six shots on goal were counted in the first period and only 34 in total.

ZSC Lions win again

After three championship defeats in a row against Lausanne (0:2), Davos (2:3 n.V.) and Ajoie (1:2), the ZSC Lions returned to winning ways. Zurich SC defeated Lugano 5:1, with Juho Lammikko putting the Lions ahead in the 18th minute. Later, Derek Grant also scored to make it 5:1 in overtime. These were only the 8th and 9th power play goals of the season for the ZSC Lions. No other team scored so rarely in overtime. Lammikko led the ZSC Lions to a home win with 2 goals (1-0 and 2-0) and an assist (to make it 4-1). Lammikko scored two goals in one game for the first time this season. Lugano have lost eight of their last nine away games.

Shaky after a slow start

HC Davos successfully defended its first leading position in the National League in almost ten years with a home win over Ajoie. The team from the Jura, who had helped Davos to first place the night before with their victory against the ZSC Lions, were already down 0:3 after 18 minutes in Graubünden. But because the HCD then went into overdrive, the home team was still in a trembling mood: Philip-Michael Devos reduced the deficit to 2:3 with two power-play goals, and Jonathan Hazen later brought Ajoie back to 3:4. Kyen Sopa even had the chance to equalize at the start of the final period. Tino Kessler made things clearer again in the 45th minute with the 4:2. The first Davos forward line around Adam Tambellini (2 goals, 1 assist) had combined to score the first three goals. Davos won nine of the last ten rounds.

Aaltonen again

EHC Biel led three times in Kloten, but still conceded their fourth defeat in a row with a 3-4 overtime loss. Kloten managed to turn things around in the final period: Sandro Zurkirchen was replaced by an extra forward in the 59th minute, after which Daniel Audette equalized with 78 seconds remaining. In overtime, Miro Aaltonen, the league's top scorer, secured Kloten's home win with his 15th goal of the season. Aaltonen had already decided the game late in Friday's 2-1 win in Rapperswil.

Chris DiDomenico's satisfaction

Three weeks ago, Chris DiDomenico had to move from Freiburg to Leventina after a player swap with Jakob Lilja. DiDomenico turned out to be an outstanding figure at the reunion. Thanks to four goals in the final period, HC Ambri-Piotta won 5:3 against Gottéron after trailing twice. "DiDo" shone with the first assist on the first three goals of the four in the final period. Daniele Grassi scored two goals for Ambri. The Ticino team defeated Gottéron for the first time after four defeats in head-to-head meetings. And the 35-year-old DiDomenico is the only player to leave the ice victorious in both games between Fribourg and Ambri.
