A week and a half ago, Schlittschuhclub Bern were still in third place in the table, but they have only managed one win from their last five games. These are the facts of Tuesday's full round.
SC Bern got back into the game thanks to a wrong refereeing decision against Lugano, but still lost 1:3 in the end. Austin Czarnik reduced the deficit for Bern to 1:2 on the powerplay because the referees had missed the fact that Lugano goalie Niklas Schlegel had not put the puck directly over the Plexiglas. In this duel between two teams in crisis, Lugano was already 2:0 ahead after just five minutes with goals from Michael Joly and Radim Zahorna. Despite 37:18 shots on goal and the luck of the penalty that led to the final goal, SCB were unable to turn the game around.
Ajoie's second home win
The departure of coach Christian Wohlwend seems to have had an effect on Ajoie. Although the team from Jura squandered a 2-0 lead in their home game against the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers, they still managed to win 4-2. Ajoie celebrated their second home win since the 5-2 victory against Kloten. Canadian Jonathan Hazen scored the goals from 2:2 to 4:2, only the second and third goals of the season for Hazen. Finn Jerry Turkulainen, the National League's number 350 in plus/minus rating (among 354 players), shone with three assists. Ajoie celebrated their second win in the last three games, having previously won only one of their first 14 games.
Lausanne on fire
Lausanne defeated Kloten 3-0, with goalie Kevin Pasche posting a shutout with 33 saves. Antti Suomela, Théo Rochette and Lauri Pajuniemi scored the goals for the LHC, who have won six of their last seven games. Lausanne took the deciding goal in the 50th minute while in overtime. The best power play in the National League came to fruition once again thanks to Rochette, who scored while Kloten's Miro Aaltonen was on the penalty bench.
Davos revenge
On September 24, Langnau won 7-0 at home against Davos, and just over a month later, the HCD got their revenge with a 3-0 home win. Valentin Nussbaumer and Tino Kessler beat Langnau's goalie Stéphane Charlin, who shone again. Matej Stransky scored the 3:0 into the empty net. And the Tigers continued to wonder whether they had shot their powder in the 7-0 win over Davos in September. Since then, the Tigers have scored an average of just 1.7 goals per game. For the fifth time in a month, the team from Emmental failed to score a goal (0:1 ZSC Lions, 0:1 Lausanne, 0:2 Kloten, 0:4 Zug, 0:3 Davos).
Geneva minus series
Servette no longer score often either. Geneva conceded their fourth defeat in a row against the ZSC Lions, losing 3-1. In these four lost games, the Servettiens only managed to score five goals. Derek Grant scored his ninth goal in the last nine games for the ZSC Lions. Grant gave the Zurich team the lead. Just two minutes after the equalizer, ZSC took the lead again through Vinzenz Rohrer - or rather through an own goal by Giancarlo Chanton). Yannick Weber made the final score 3:1 in the 26th minute with a slapshot.
Against the trend
EHC Biel, who had won six of their last seven games, lost 4-1 to HC Fribourg-Gottéron, who had previously suffered two more defeats. Biel took the lead after just four minutes through Jere Sallinen, but failed to score after that. Julien Sprunger, Marcus Sörensen and Christoph Bertschy gave Fribourg a 3:1 lead. Shortly before the end, Benoît Jecker secured Fribourg's away win with a shot into the empty net.
