In the biathletes' World Cup sprint in Annecy-Le Grand Bornand, the powerless Swiss women play no part. Lena Häcki-Gross has to settle for 33rd place.
A virus is spreading in the Swiss biathlon team. Niklas Hartweg already had to miss the races in France due to a flu-like infection. On Friday, Amy Baserga and Aita Gasparin also had to cancel at short notice. This meant that only two Swiss women started: Häcki-Gross only managed 33rd place due to two shooting errors, while Lea Meier finished 36th despite an impeccable shooting performance.
Despite a reload, the sprint race was won by Justine Braisaz-Bouchet from France, the Olympic champion in the mass start race in Beijing 2022. The 28-year-old finished 1.4 seconds ahead of the flawless World Cup leader Franziska Preuss and celebrated her twelfth World Cup victory in an individual race.
