Lucerne keeper Pascal Loretz had to make several strong saves to secure a point for his team. The 21-year-old ensured that the attacking efforts of Lausanne, who had been so astonishingly strong in the first half of the season, came to nothing. Loretz successfully got in the way of Noë Dussenne's header one last time in the 90th minute.
Even if Lausanne-Sport were not as compelling offensively in the first game of the new year as they were in the first half of the season, they remained stable defensively. For the sixth time in a row, the Vaud side did not concede a goal at home and remain level on points with Basel and just one point behind leaders Lugano in third place. FC Luzern are fourth - also with the possibility of taking over the top spot in the next round.
