One day after the surprising defeat of previous leaders Atlético Madrid in Leganes, the defending champions showed no weakness. Real Madrid responded to the early 0:1 with three goals between the 18th and 36th minute. Kylian Mbappé scored twice. The other goals were scored by Rodrygo and Brahim Diaz.
After 20 rounds, Real Madrid are two points clear of Atlético and seven ahead of FC Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao, who won 2-1 at Vigo for their sixth victory in the last seven games.
