Bad news for the badly shaken Austrian men's team: ÖSV talent Felix Hacker suffered a serious knee injury in the final training run for the Hahnenkamm Downhill in Kitzbühel.
The 25-year-old from Carinthia stopped his training run in the steep slope and grabbed his left knee. Examinations in hospital revealed a torn cruciate ligament and a torn meniscus, as the ÖSV announced. The World Championship season is now over for him and he faces a month-long break.
Hacker has impressed in the European Cup this winter, in which he won three downhill races and most recently a super-G on Monday in Reiteralm.
The legendary Streif claimed a second crash victim on Wednesday, Jacob Schramm, with serious health consequences. The 26-year-old German suffered a concussion and a complex knee injury, as announced by the German Ski Association.
