Michael Lang is to become the new Head of Sport at FC Wil, taking over from Jan Breitenmoser, who is leaving the club after six years.
Michael Lang will take over the role of sporting director at FC Wil after Jan Breitenmoser, who has been with the club for six years, leaves at the end of the current season. FC Wil, currently sixth in the Challenge League, has announced that Lang will be gradually introduced to his new position until July 1, 2025.
During this transition period, Breitenmoser will continue to manage the day-to-day operations and oversee the club's sporting affairs. Lang, on the other hand, will already take responsibility for decisions affecting the coming season.
This is the first official role for Lang, who has played 31 times for the Swiss national team. The 33-year-old from eastern Switzerland terminated his contract as a player with FC Basel in the summer.
A new path for Michael Lang
The switch from a playing career to a management position marks a significant step in Lang's professional career. With his experience as an international player, he brings valuable insights into the sporting management of FC Wil. The club hopes that Lang's fresh perspective and expertise will continue to drive the club's sporting success.
