Erling Haaland scored two goals, one shortly before the break to make it 2-0 and the other ten minutes after the break to make it 3-0. West Ham made it 4-1 in the 71st minute with Niclas Füllkrug's second goal of the season. Manuel Akanji played in City's central defense.
The English champions remain outside the top five in the table due to their long period of weakness, although they are only one point behind Newcastle, who celebrated their fifth win in a row at Tottenham (2-1). Fabian Schär was missing for Newcastle due to a yellow card suspension.
