Despite being called up for the national team, Gregor Kobel is still out of action for Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund. The regular goalkeeper from Zurich will also miss BVB's away game in Mainz on Saturday.
BVB coach Nuri Sahin does not see this as a problem despite the ongoing personnel shortage. "He's very professional and has a good team around him. I have complete confidence in my players and also in the Swiss national team," said Sahin, who will once again rely on Alexander Meyer in goal.
Kobel is suffering from hip problems. "Greg hasn't trained with the team again yet. We're not going to take any risks. He'll be back against Freiburg," Sahin continued. The match against Freiburg will take place on November 23.
The Swiss national team will gather in Zurich on Monday to prepare for the last two games of the current Nations League, against Serbia in Zurich on Friday and against European champions Spain in Tenerife three days later. Should Kobel be ruled out for the last two international matches of the year, he would be replaced by Yvon Mvogo in the Swiss goal.
