Ski cross racer Jonas Lenherr will miss the start of the World Cup season due to an infection in his ankle. The injury to his left foot from last March has still not healed.

The 35-year-old from St. Gallen will have to be patient. The rehabilitation of the fracture in his lower ankle did not go optimally over the summer, which is why the screws that held the broken lower leg bone together after the operation were removed before the start of the season. Following this operation, Lenherr contracted an infection in his ankle, which now needs to be treated.

The start of the competition season, which begins next week with two races in Val Thorens, France, has been delayed. Lenherr is helped by the fact that the World Championships in St. Moritz are not on the program until 22 March. The St. Gallen native won the World Cup race in Nakiska, Canada, last January and came second on the Reiteralm in February.
