Marco Odermatt, it took a lot of tactics to achieve his first victory of the season.

"A lot of tactics, actually. Even if I wasn't confident everywhere, it worked out. It was a very demanding race, the track was rougher than usual here. It was correspondingly difficult to drive, especially in the middle section of the track."

The retirements at the start of the race probably didn't make things any easier.

"I don't have to beat anyone who doesn't finish. No, seriously: I had a clear plan and already thought during the inspection that many riders would struggle. In the end, the many retirements proved my tactics right."

This was the first duel with Cyprien Sarrazin.

"I had rather expected that yesterday (Friday) in the downhill. But of course he can also do the technically demanding corners. He's just as good as me there."

If you had your plan, didn't you follow the riders who started ahead of you on TV?

"Yes, we did. I wanted confirmation that I was right with my plan."

Back to the special day with the downhill, Justin Murisier's victory and your second place. What happened after this memorable race?

"Far too little (laughs). Nothing special at all. We both knew that we had other important races ahead of us here. We had a quick toast with a beer - that was it. But we'll make up for it later."
