Brignone took the half-time lead on the "panorama slope" with her usual attacking run. On the course set by her coach Giorgio Pavoni, the Italian distanced the competition by 15 hundredths and more.

Lara Gut-Behrami came closest to the winner in Sölden. The 33-year-old from Ticino showed great improvement compared to the giant slalom in Killington and has her sights set on her 46th World Cup victory after half a stint. Sara Hector is classified in 3rd intermediate place. The leader in the discipline ranking lost 24 hundredths to Brignone.

Camille Rast, who has been so strong of late, had a subdued run. The leader in the overall standings and third in Killington was only able to keep up in the top section of the course. After that, she continuously lost time and finished 1.88 seconds behind. Wendy Holdener finished around two tenths behind Rast. Like her team-mate, she was also fast at the top, but then lost a lot of time.

Simone Wild has to worry about qualifying for the second run, which starts at 13:00. The 31-year-old is in 22nd place after 30 racers, 2.45 seconds behind.
