Bayer Leverkusen come to a spectacular 4:3 win against Wolfsburg in the 4th round of the Bundesliga. Victor Boniface saves the champions in stoppage time.

For the second time in a row, Leverkusen were in danger of not coming away victorious in front of their home crowd. However, unlike in their first home game of the season, when they lost 3-2 to Leipzig, the team led by Swiss national team captain Granit Xhaka showed their champion face again.

Leverkusen did not allow themselves to be rattled by falling behind twice (0:1 and 2:3). The Werkself equalized shortly after the restart and continued to power ahead. After Yannick Gerhardt was sent off, the home team played in superior numbers from the 88th minute onwards. In stoppage time, Xhaka saw his long-range shot hit the post. In the end, it was Victor Boniface who scored the winner for Leverkusen shortly afterwards.

The champions are now three points behind the leaders, who are still without a point, with a week to go before the summit clash with Bayern.
