Young Boys managed to break the deadlock in the 7th round of the Super League. The champions beat Winterthur 4:1 and landed their first win of the season.

Young Boys were only briefly shaky on coach Patrick Rahmen's return to his old stomping ground. When Labinot Bajrami equalized immediately after the break after a wonderful pass from Randy Schneider, the Bernese fans who had made the journey were worried. But they didn't have to tremble for two minutes. Joël Monteiro restored the gap with the next attack. The 25-year-old had already made it 1:0 after just over half an hour with a wonderful pinpoint pass from Darian Males.

The Bern team finally took the wind out of Winterthur's sails by making it 3:1 in the 56th minute. Filip Ugrinic launched Zachary Athekame with a pass into the deep, who passed directly into the middle, where Silvère Ganvoula only had to slot in. Monteiro made the final decision with his third personal goal five minutes before the end.

Young Boys understandably lacked the confidence of recent years, but deserved the win because they were the more active and better team throughout the game.

With the three points, the Bernese handed the red lantern to Winterthur, who are still waiting for a successful result after their win against St. Gallen at the start of the season. At least coach Ognjen Zaric's team scored again after more than 400 goalless minutes. Winterthur's black streak against YB continues. Including Sunday's result, the champions have always had the upper hand in the last six encounters.
