On the last day of the Cycling Track World Championships in Copenhagen, Lukas Rüegg and Valère Thiébaud finish 8th in the Madison.

Rüegg from Zurich and Thiébaud from Neuchâtel left the duos from the strong track nations of Australia, Japan and Canada behind them. Rüegg/Thiébaud achieved the third Swiss top 8 result in Olympic disciplines. The two foursomes had previously finished 6th (women) and 7th (men) in the team pursuit. The Madison title went to the Germans Roger Klubeimge/Tom Teutenberg.

World Championship debutant Nicolo de Lisi finished eleventh in the elimination race. Michelle Andres finished 16th in the points race.
